OK peeps… You have hardly any time left to order this fantastic parcel of patterns so don’t miss out! Just want to get that out there first. πŸ˜€

Most of you have probably seen posts from fellow sewing bloggers floating around in the last week or so about the new collection of patterns offered for a great cause… and now it is my turn! A few weeks ago I found an email in my inbox from Jill inviting me to be a part of the Perfect Pattern Parcel launch. Because I am not usually an everyday email reader I jumped on board a little late but I jumped on board none the less! I feel honored to be included and despite being pretty busy I did not have any problem whipping up a few things. Like the super cute Sew Sweetness Accordion Bag…Sew Sweetness Accordion Bag

My niece is having a birthday in a few weeks and I thought it was the perfect time to make her a Hello Kitty purse! One of the patterns in Perfect Pattern Parcel #1 is the Accordion Bag by Sew Sweetness. I LOVE the pleating on the flap and the roominess of the purse. I was very impressed with myself. πŸ™‚ As a matter of fact I was glad noone was home during the time I put this together. I was so pleased with myself I kept giggling! The instructions were easy to follow and before I knew it I had a super “sweet” purse. Sweet!

After that was complete I decided to make myself a tee. And what better Tee to make then the Dixie DIY Summer Concert Tee. Now, I know you cannot have missed all of the FABULOUS tees that have been popping up all over our little corner of the net. I actually waffled back and forth on this one but am so happy I ended up making it. I used a piece of green Chantilly lace I had in my stash and a black lightweight jersey knit for the front. And when Baby walked in she promptly snagged it off my dress form and ooohed and aaahed about how great it looked on her….

Yes… it looks great on her and with her penchant for snatching everyone else’s clothing I won’t be surprised to see it on her often! I added 2 inches to both the front and the back because I knew I would be more comfortable with some extra length. The pattern directions were easy to follow and it was QUICK! And CUTE! I LOVE QUICK and cute. πŸ˜€

Summer Concert TeeI love Quick and CUTE so much I made another… I had a piece of Marilyn Monroe fabric in my stash and I knew this pattern would be perfect for it. As you can see I made a shorter sleeve band and edged the neck in black to match. I really like this one a lot! So much I did not let Baby snag it!

The other patterns that come with this Perfect Parcel are the Dandelion Dress/ Top by Seamster Patterns. I really like the tank version of this and have seen several cute dresses from fellow sewists. The Kitschy Coo Lady Skater Dress– definitely on my list. And the Ava Dress pattern by Victory patterns. I have the peplum top all cut out and half sewn up in a lovely black and red rose challis. πŸ˜€

So, here is the scoop and I couldn’t say it better than this so I am not going to try!

What is Perfect Pattern Parcel?

Put together two entrepreneurial makers driven by their internal voices and one self-taught hacker with an β€œif you build it, they will come” mentality, and Perfect Pattern Parcel was born. We are passionate about supporting independent designers in their craft and fostering a community of makers to grow. Our mission is to offer high-quality pdf sewing patterns written by indie designers while supporting charity.

At the same time you are getting 5 fabulous patterns from 5 talented designers you are helping to support them AND Children’s Education. YOU pick what price you want to pay.

Donors Choose is an organization that matches up the needs of teachers and their students for specific projects with willing donors. The funds raised from each Pattern Parcel sale will go to help K-12 students in minimizing educational inequality and encourage a community where children have the tools and experiences necessary for an excellent education. From pencils for poetry to microscopes for mitochondria, your support will help address educational inequality and grow generations to come.

So, it’s really a win win situation. You get a set of perfect patterns… support Indie designers and children’s education… and you get to feed your need to sew more clothes to fill your closet! I have to say I am very impressed with Rachael, Jill and Danny for imagining up such a great idea… and then turning it in to a reality. And I am very honored I was asked to help- even though it was in a small way!

Support Indie Designers

This really is a Perfect Pattern Parcel. From casual to dressy with an accessory thrown in it’s definitely not one you want to miss out on. And frankly while you were looking at all the neat stuff I made and reading all about them, time was tick tick ticking… Head on over and snag these before they are gone! And then stay tuned for Parcel #2… You know there HAS to be more! πŸ˜€

I am pretty happy with my March Monthly Stitchers project! Too be honest though I would have been happy making any of the projects… And if I was Super Woman I would make all 4. I actually dreamed about being Super Woman and impressing you all with my mad skills, but then realized there was NO way I would be able to get them all 4 done. Especially since I am on my last week of flower girl dress making, I still have 10 blouses to make for a friend, I work full time, am a TAXI driver for 2 kids, and I am also wanting to make Easter Dresses for my three girls… So, no Super Woman for me this month!

Anyway, without further ado… Here is how the voting went:

'Tell Me True- What Should I Do' Voting Results Polldaddy.comI had 80 people vote.. Thanks to ALL 80 of you! πŸ™‚ And I will be making the Retro Blouse Pattern (Simplicity 1590) in the lovely voile… Yes! The black, grey and white voile!

photo 2 (1)I am pretty excited to make this pattern. I LOVE it… and will probably make several once I have the fit worked out. Now I just have to decide whether to go with the collared version or the lovely rounded neckline.

Decisions… Decisions! Thanks to all who voted to boss me around!

Charming is our bunny… Well, he is my youngest daughter’s bunny but secretly I consider him the family bunny. He spends most of his time with all of us but she gets the joy of cage cleaning and checking his food and water. So I suppose she can have the glory of calling it HER bunny! (I am good with that- I do not have time to cage clean!)

bunnyHe spends a good part of the day hopping around downstairs and really likes my sewing area. Lately he has been working his way up to jumping on my desk… but I am trying to discourage him! Bunny’s I am learning can be mischevious but he is so sweet and cute I can’t help but love him. I just have to keep an eagle eye on him when he is out and about!

For my last drawing I had Akua, my eldest daughter’s green cheeked conure choose the lucky winners. This time I asked Juliette if she thought her bunny could pick. Because she knows he LOVES Cheerios we decided to give it a shot and see how he did.

photo 4 (2)

I wrote everyones name on a piece of yellow card stock , mixed them up and flipped them all facing down on the rug. Then we placed a Cheerio on top of each one.

*Side Note- I LOVE CHEERIOS! It has always been my favorite cold cereal. Not Honey Nut Cheerios or one of the other flavors… just plain old regular Cheerios. YUM… Apparently Bunny likes them too. πŸ™‚

We then placed Bunny in the middle! Could that be a TV show? Bunny in the Middle?

photo 3 (2)

I think he was going to break free of the circle here but then it clicked! Cheerios! And he swerved to the right and chose…
