The last few weeks I have been a pathetic example of a Sewcialist. I have managed to keep up with MOST blog reading and I did make it to my first #FabricChat onTwitter. But for the most part I have been severely lacking in the Sewing and Social departments and feel out of touch. SIGH…
I blame most of this on work. Between the big event we had (where I got to stay on Coronado Island for 4 days) and our recent product launch I have been working quite a bit. Product launch is over now and things are back under control. WHEW.
Anyway- this is all I made this week.
I used Erin Erickson’s Dog Under My Desk pattern… And I LOVE it. My earbuds were getting all tangled up in the bottom of my purse and my laptop case. I hated it. So I made this little case. And now all my kids can expect one for Christmas! This is an easy to follow pattern and I can use up quilting scraps! I knew I was saving them for a reason! 🙂 She has more patterns that I am interested in. Check her out!
In other news, my baby turned 17 years old yesterday. Geez… where did the years go! I don’t know! (I am having a bonfire party for her tonight!)
And look at our new family member! Juliette, for her birthday, received this ball of cuteness!
He is a 5 week old Holland Lop bunny. SUPER affectionate and litter box trained. Now she has someone to snuggle with. She has wanted one for a while and when I saw this cuteness I caved. His name is Charming and I am thinking I will call him Prince. I am very excited about making Juliette a Christmas dress and Charming a matching bow tie. (lol)
Next week will be a better sewing week for me. And I am sure I will do my best to spend a little time on Twitter too!
Happy Sewing! (Or crafting… or knitting… or cooking… or reading… or whatever you do best!)
Laurie xo
How I understand you… my full time job is taking so much energy that I am almost not able to craft at all… small things are helping me to go on.
Your daugther is so winderdul – what a great present from you! Prince Charmnig 🙂 Congratulation to you and all the vbest with her birthday! Have a nice party!
Thanks! The party was great. And Prince Charming is quite the Prince! 😀 … And yes- full time jobs can be a detriment to a full crafting/sewing life. SIGHHHHHH
Work is always getting in the way of my sewing too. The earbud case would be great for my daughter who has various sets of earbuds all around the house. Of course it will be a whole other thing to actually have her put the earbuds in the case. Happy birthday Juliette! Charming is too cute!! I hope you get some sewing time in since I would love to see Juliette and Charming’s Christmas outfits!
I NEED to get in a lot of sewing time! I like to make my gifts… I am going to get organized today so I can get busy! … Charming is gonna look handsome!
I am a terrible sewcialist, too. I have been struggling for months with this. I do sew, but it isn’t as often and I’m not around the internet being social very much.
I love the earbuds case. I have the instructions, but have yet to make it. Maybe one of these days!
Definitely make an earbud case- Highly recommended! I see you around Laura! On Instagram and Twitter (when I am there) … But sewing time is hard to come by sometimes I am sure. I know it is for me! (Maybe I need to try to do another 100 hour month)
Cute bunny (happy birthday to your daughter)! And what a great little earbud pouch – I love Erin’s patterns!
I’ve been feeling out of the sewcialist loop myself since my phone was stolen a little over a week ago and I’ve only been able to look at stuff on my computer at night. I’ve been sewing but have nothing to show for it since I lost my most recent photos with my phone. FINALLY got the phone replaced and connected to my social accounts and email tonight.
Your phone was stolen?!? How sad. 😦 I am glad you will be back online with us again!
Yeah, I accidentally left it on the cutting table at work one night (my boss was last one out just after me). I didn’t realize I left it until I was all the way home (long commute) because I was carpooling with my husband and he picked me up. Apparently, the college cleaning crew swiped it because it wasn’t there when I unlocked the shop the next morning.
That is unfortunate. I wish people were more honest.
Can’t believe someone at your WORK would take it. Some things should be sacred.
I am so tired of phones being stolen. My oldest daughter has had 2 stolen and the youngest one in the last year. One of them I tracked with Find My iPhone- had a PICTURE of the house w/ the streets and I reported it to 2 police departments. Nothing happened. So I had it blacklisted. Now when/ if it gets activated it will shut down within 24 hours and they won’t be able to use it. Glad you are back!!!
Yeah, the tracking stuff is useless unless you are always misplacing your phone. You can’t exactly track it to a thief’s house and expect to get it back. I suspended mine as soon as I could, but that doesn’t mean someone wasn’t smart enough to change out the sim card and reset the phone to defaults right after they grabbed it. As it was, they only got some free apps and a bunch of sewing photos (which I have FINALLY figured out how to back up to the Cloud on my new phone).
Glad we are BOTH back! =)
Heeee! Ball of cuteness, ball of cuteness! I know what you mean about not keeping up with the sewcialists. I have to admit, sometimes I feel a tad overwhelmed. With twitter and IG and the blogs, your own and others, and sewalongs and FB, it can all be too much. So, I usually keep up with reading the blogs as I really enjoy that, but have started to really pick and chose which sewalongs to participate in, and not worry too much about Twitter, unless I really do have free time and want to socialize. Otherwise, I don’t have time to do things In REal Life!
He is a ball of cuteness! I too like the blog reading the best- And Instagram is easy to do in my bed at night. LOL… Sewalongs- I am with you. I am too overwhelmed and will pick the ones that excite me as long as time permits!
Gah! Baby bunny!!! Hope your ddaughter had a great birthday, but with a gift that awesome, how could she not?! Love the ear bud case– my headphones are always a tangled mess!
Thanks Ginger- The earbud case IS awesome… and the bunny is a pile of sweetness!
ooh, a Holland Lap! I’ve wanted one for years and am fairly jealous right now. One day when my life is more pet-friendly I will have one as part of my menagerie. I shall name hom something manly like Thor or Rocko.
Lol! I’m actually pretty surprised my daughter didn’t name him Thor! She’s completely in love with him and the movies! My eldest daughter has 2 green cheeked conures so pretty much any other pet was out of the question! Bunnies and birds are a pretty decent combo!
